after the graspings are dead you need to stand on the right side stairway (east?) and watch the mini map. on the right of the mini map is 2 aataxe's together and a group of 2 graspings and 1 dying nightmare. what you want to set up is that there are no monsters in the small hallway linking the rooms. wait for the graspings/nightmare to move far away and the aatax's to be at least out of the hallway. set up stormdjinns and run past the 2 aaxate's in front of you and the one on the stairs and stop near the doorway where the rooms are linked. make sure the little hallway is cleared and put on SJH (let it half recharge in case you get rend'd from the nightmare). run through the small corridor and take a quick left dodging all aataxe's. keep running till you see a small set of stairs. once up these stairs the aataxe's will stop chasing you. smites just ahead
i am having troubling clearing the chamber. they dont use all there inturrepts first. i wait about 4 second and they still have an inturrept and inturrept my sandstorm. should i wait later or wat?
I find that they use distracting blow ASAP, although usually one of them hits flurry first and waits for a bit before using it. Try to use the TAB key to cycle through the group until you're sure they have all used it, then hit visage.

It sometimes happens (if you come to close to graspings when you lure them) that they start with a distracting blow while running. If that happens, their distracting blow starts recharging while you are still luring and getting in position. So when you use AV (or standstorm, if you got av on while their distracting blow is still recharging) they manage to interrupt it. This happens most of the time in groups of 3 when av doesn't suck their energy b4 the blow is recharged.
To avoid this, simply dont come to close to the graspings so they wont waste their blow to early.
im also having trouble clearing the chamber.
I get the group and use AV and have all the enchants up and i use sandstorm and its good and then I use Dragon Stomp and Aftershock and 1 or 2 stay and the rest run. Finally the 2 die and the (i froget the name the one with the guy who looks like hes from the Fantastic Four) runs out. The other graspings come back as soon as they die and if I wait for them to use distracting blow I will die because I dont have that enchant up and when I use it they usually interupt it....any ideas.
Befor you aggro graspings:
1. mantra of earth->stonestrike->stoneflesh aura->storm djin's haste
2. aggro and take position, attack them to make sure they've used their interrupt. You can count them, you will hear a sound from you charac when you get interrupted and you can see the grasping having a particular attack animation.
3. Non stop cast: AV->sandstorm->earthquake->aftershock->stoneflesh. (sometimes you should wait a few secs with sandstorm if 1 grasping has attacked you with distracting blow in the luring process, see the above post)
5.Graspings run.
6. They come back: attack them again so their recharged distracting blow is wasted. use av, and cast eartquake+aftershock to finish them off.
Because of the AV/SV nerf from Anet, isn't it usefull to take Glyph of Concentration (GoC) instead of AV/SV??
Aftershock is 3/4 casting time, fast enough, because they are knockdown.... GoC has a recharge of 10sec, and casting of 1 sec.
So something like this:
Mantra->Stone Striker->Stone Flesh->Flame djin's hast(i use)->GoC.....
let the party begin
PS. You can get the points out of illusion and put them into inspiration (maybe you can kill aatxes as well ) or into enrgy storage

I think there was some talk of this a few pages back, but I still prefer running visage over glyph of conc purely because otherwise, smites scatter like flies.
Using visage still works fine, but you just have to be a little more careful on when you use it.

Ok thanks for the advice... going to try tomorrow (again)

It's possible to take GoC, but the run will take alot longer. Smites don't die of 1 combo. AV is really what makes this the fastest smite runner out here. It's also the safest whay. True; its a bit hard for beginners to get used of the graspings and their interrupting (that's why it's easier for beginners to take GoC, cause you get it up b4 aggro), but once you get to know their pattern its a piece of cake and everything goes really smooth and fast. I cannot remember the last time I died on this run...
When I started learning the build, I used to cast Stoneflesh Aura for second time right after luring/casting visage, then going for SS, Dragonstomp, aftershock. Now I beraly have the need to cast stonflesh for second time.
Indeed it's easy to use. In the beginning it's a little hard, because you have to figure out when to use AV with the Grasp's, now I do a full run in about 15-20min. So fast enough for me. I only do 3 runs, after that I'll do something else otherwise you do not get any good drops anymore. Last run I had 2 ecto's and 1 ruby
Only sometimes I die when running to the smites But that happens once in a while
I just started running this build today (would have been sooner had I known earlier that you don't have to get to the endgame skill trainer to get a PvE skill....just unlock it in PvP and all the trainers have it for you to buy.....when did this happen!?). Anyway, there is quite a learning curve to it.
Stuff I learned the hard way:
-Aggro from Attaxes and Nightmares only wears off if you've got Air Djinn's Haste active.
-Position yourself in the open areas or that nook next to the steps because the ghosts will body block Graspings and they won't attack you
-Make sure you take at least one hit with AV/SV up before you start casting again so that Graspings lose all of their adrenaline
-If a Nightmare pops up while luring smites, IMMEDIATELY get next to it and Aftershock...do not try to wand it and do not keep running
-Learn the safe spots where Coldfires won't go
-Practice the move on the video (before you pay 1k) that positions the smites (Forward, Strafe Right, Backwards, Strafe Left or W, E, S, Q) and then learn to do it against a wall....use regular low level monsters to practice
I'm still not very good at getting past the first chamber ("60% of the time, it works every time.") but I think those are some decent tips that would have helped me. I've been able to do about 4 complete runs and it's a blast. I am usually a 55 monk and this build is a completely different mindset.
I remember the days when you could have 15 smites all gathered round and all dying at the same time. The best I've done with this build is 7 but it brought back some of the fun from the good old days. I hope this new hard/easy mode let's us enjoy that once more.

You did a nice workout here m8. It's very helpfull for the ppl that just start these runs tnx
ive mobbed up 4 or 5 groups of smites from the right side, jus depends if i can be bothered and if the "evil smites" are around cos they will mess it up..
For the graspings, run in and lure after you have applied your enchants. Then cycle through them until you see disrupting chop has been used (or if your cool use the visuals to tell you) then cast AV wait a sec then recast all your enchants (this helps incase something goes wrong later, those extra seconds can keep you alive), then use your attacking skills. At this point there will be one grasping attacking you, wand him to death then either recast AV if you have time before the others come back or wait for them to use their disrupting and cast AV then, then recast, re-atttack. I havent died in ages doing it like that.
If you accidently agro 2 groups of graspings make sure you have seen all the disruptings before you cast, i used to estimate and a couple times theres one that hasnt used it yet and messed me up but other then the start the rest is the same.
Coldfires are easy the patrol is the same always and you can outrun them, just be wary of walking near them as if a nightmare pops up they will be aggro'd aswell. If you find theres a coldfire group that wont move and you need to get past, first make sure your exit path is clear then aggro them and run as fast as you can when they go back they should start patrolling again.
If you lure the smites and a Nightmare pops up, you can also let the Nightmare strip your enchantments and then cast storm djins haste to run away. The Grawler's lose agro really fast and you can just wand the nightmare.
There is not always, nearly never, time to go to the Nightmare and kill it.
why not bring heroes for the chamber part, it not that you can get ecto over there
You can, but the heroes will still take part in your gold drops even if you flag them away. Also, it can be hard to flag the heroes just right so the graspings won't target them.
